21st Inning Stretch

On April 17th, just one day after returning from an overseas deployment, I thought I would go to Petco Park in San Diego and watch the Padres take on my Colorado Rockies. What better way to relax and forget your worries than to go to a ball game?

I didn't realize that I was going to be watching a record breaking game. The game went to twenty two innings. The longest game by innings for the Pads and one minute short of the time record. The game was zero zero until the 14th inning when both teams scored a single run, and the Rockies finally won it in the 22nd with an unearned run.

Despite the complete lack of offense by either team, the game was very exciting and intense. Every inning that came you thought for sure this was going to be the end, but it seemed to never end, keeping me on the edge of my seat for just over six hours. We enjoyed a 7th, 14th, and my first 21st inning stretch. It was very fun.

I only wished they would have reopened the beer vendors sometime around the 15th inning!
